Hi Cupcakes! My name is Alexandra and I am the proud owner of Le Cupcake Shoppe. I grew up and still reside right here in the South Hills. I am a 2011 Duquesne University graduate with two business degrees in Entrepreneurship and Marketing. From a very early age, my mom and I loved baking together. But, I also dreamed of owning my own businesses.
Growing up in a family of small business owners, I was always in awe of creative thinkers. I saw how hard they worked but it didn't discourage me one bit!
About 12 years ago, I decided to ditch the corporate path I was on and follow my heart. Thankfully, my amazing parents believed in me and I am blessed to have my talented artist of a mother, Suzie, by my side everyday at the shop.
We are self taught bakers with a dedication and passion for our trade. We don't take short cuts and always use the best ingredients. I never lose my desire to learn and better my skills so that I can give my customers the "old fashioned, custom style" that I adore so much about small business.
From age 22 spending hours experimenting and force feeding my family minis, rewriting business plans, sketching out my logo on a coffee shop napkin and spending 9 long, tiring months of renovation to present day, I have always wanted a quaint "old school" storefront in this city of rich culture, wearing all the hats and present in my business. We think of trendy product ideas but we make them from scratch and we personally serve them up, just like the old days, too.
Today, my business and my family has expanded in many ways. 2016 blessed my husband and I with our precious little boy. 2017 I lost two of the most influential people in my life, my father and my grandmother. To be honest, I thought it would be the end of the road for this dream. Somehow, God kept us going and in 2018, my husband and I welcomed our little angel girl. Great Loss and Great Joys of Motherhood has truly inspired my continual evolution in this journey.
My parents and I used to reflect on just how many kids blew out their first candles on our cake, how many brides and grooms got their pictures taken cutting into our cakes, how many hospital workers got minis as a thank you, how many states our desserts traveled, how many people had their day uplifted from eating a cake pop we made, how many girls cured their broken hearts with moms chocolate chips and how many fresh one year olds had their first lick of icing and it was my dads buttercream. It is humbling. I am gracious. I am thankful for all the wonderful people I meet as each year passes. Thank you for your support.
We look forward to meeting you in our shop or being a part of your next special occasion!
Le Cupcake Shoppe is dedicated to the memory of my beautiful and loving father, George (1945-2017). There is no daughter more proud than I to have you as their Dad. You are with me always. I love you.
